Neil and I are carpenters. Well... I'm only a second year carpenter's apprentice so far. It might take a while before I'm fully qualified.

Ever since I was a pup, I've been going with Neil to work and learning all about the finer points of carpentering.

Some people think that a dog can't be a carpenter, but Neil sets them straight. I go everywhere with him - we're a team.
I go on all the building sites and guard the tools and pass things to Neil when he is up a ladder or has his hands full.

I had to learn not to chew up bits of wood, like the handles of the chisels or the hammer. Neil said it was unprofessional.

  1. Yeah it's good having a profession. You sound like you're really good at carpentry work Ruby.
I help Bryan with work too. He runs our B&B and I'm employed as the guard dog and breakfast plate washer uperer. The girls are the welcoming committee.

  2. Ruby you are so lucky that you get to help your daddy and learn a profession. Our daddy goes to work at an electric power generating station so when Mom brings us to visit we sit in the car and Daddy comes out to see us there. One Saturday I, BabyRD, got to go eat with him at a picnic table near some transformers, but he wouldn't let me do any mechanical work on them. Hootie has practiced splicing wires at home, but the folks don't think he's electrician material! Go figure. XOXO-BabyRocketDog & Hootie

  3. You and I should get together, Ruby, and build something fabulous together! I'm with dad in his workshop all the time!

  4. Ruby, we think you will make a great carpenter once you finish your apprenticeship! Do you know the difference between a screwdriver and a hammer? That would be useful information when Neil asks for one or the other!

  5. You seem to be quite the professional! Very handy to have around the jobsite to help carry supplies and keep the ladder steady. I’m learning to be a professional company keeper when I grow up.

  6. So, Ruby Girl!

What does a 2nd year apprentice carpenter make these days? (I'm talking money as well as projects.) Glad your dad set you straight on the professional behavior, but I'm thinking it's only right to at least mark your own tools so they don't get mixed in with his.

You look strangely seductive wearing that tool belt!

    Goober love,
    STanley
